Short Response

The biggest way that teamwork has influenced my life would be the developement and the projects done at film club. ( At my school Sparrows Point High School) I needed names on a petition for it to start and had 95 signitures with a team of five people. We promoted the club and searched for a room and a teacher to host it for us.We also pitched the idea to the principle together. He approve it and then the film club started at December 1, 2010.

The next thing that we had to cover was how it was going to be organized. The first meeting was terrible but the next meeting we tried again with a agenda but again it failed. We brainstormed a plan together to figure out a way for it to succeed. We split the responsibilities up together and that made it successful. We gave each division jobs and it occupied everyone and was much more productive. I simply supervised the whole organization. Without  teamwork I wouldn't be able to manage film club to succeed into it's second year in the school.

Here's a example of our first project done before it was organized:

Short Response 4

I plan on working on the feild of multi-media after I have completed my educational goals. I have 3 careers that I wish to attempt after college, this includes film directing, animation, and video game design. I am not sure which of these goals will I go after first but I am sure that I plan on becoming all three sometime in my life. I have no true favoritism for one over the other but they are all have different reasons for why I plan to achieve them.

I enjoy film for the challenge of completeing the projects at hand. I like the leadership role that is required to be a film director. ( balancing the crew's schedule and keeping production under the budget). I would have to try to stay with the script and please my superiors( production companies). I believe that I could handle the stress involved with being a film director. (For more information follow this link http://education-portal.com/career_as_a_film_director.html) Animation is another career interest for me because I believe that I have some good ideas for some cartoons. Also animation is long and requires patiences which is something that I believe that I have. I also like the unity and trust aspect with animation as well. We have to trust each other to make the other scenes correctly.( One person doesn't make the scenes for an entire cartoon.) (For more information follow this link  http://education-portal.com/cartoon_animator.html)

A video game designer is one of my career goals becuase of several reasons. I love playing video games, but I would also like to add different types of games into play. Everyone knows about the different game types ( first-shooter, racing, platform, etc.) but we are we limited to just those? I plan on reaching out to create new types of games, completely original but not too abstract. My inspiration for all of these goals all came from my creativity.

Short Response 3

I beleive that this year in college is an example of the seperation process. I am just now beginning to disassociate myself from old customs and habits, but I haven't truly grasped new customs an habits yet. This would place me on the seperation process from Tinto's multistage transitioning process. I feel that I am leaving the seperation process but not yet, because I have not sought out to accept new customs or habits yet and I am not completely removed from familar surroundings. I'm still in high school which explains why it is so slow for me to move on to the next step in the transitioning process but I can see that I am slowly removing the unneeded habits and customs that I use to have.

An example of what I have removed to be involved of the seperation process of Tinto's multistep transitioning process is how I removed my sense of dependency. I am now a little bit more independant but I have not tried to seek out total indepedance yet.I have also removed wasted time. I now try not to waste time but I haven't sought out to avoid wasting time completely yet, only to reduce it.

Overall I agree with Tinto's multistep transitioning process. I believe that I am only starting out through this process but I also believe that I am going through it in a nice pace. I agree with the idea that if I wasn't so close to familar customs that I would be able to go through the transitioning process faster but I feel that I am transitioning successfully.

I believe that the seperation part of the multistep transitioning process would become more intense when I go into a four year institution. If I were to go into Penn State for example, I believe that I would (obviously) have to adjust to the distance from home, but also to the increase to the student to teacher ratio (17-1). Which may not be as hard of a challenge since the class are still small but it would still be a slight increase. Also I won't have as much trouble in finding something to do since there are plenty of activities available, however I may be overwhelmed and have to adjust to this new range of options. Overall I feel that the seperation process may take a while to adjust too but I feel that once I have completed this step the transitioning phase and the incorporating phase should take no time to adjust to because the differences doesn't appear to be too overwhelming. I will need to work on "letting go" of what is familar to me before I can move on.

short response 2

This commercial is for the Burger King big kids meal. This Commercial shows a kid dressed like Goku, the main character of the kid Television show Dragonballz, going into a Burger King (while doing some flips).Once he reaches the register, the man behind the counter says "Your here for dragonballz?" and then the kid nods his head yes.

This commercial was marketed to children by showing a kid (dressed like Goku) doing flips and tricks to go to the register. Next the commercial advertised a free dragonballz toy with every "big" kids meal. With the marketers adding big next to kids meal, it implies that only older kids eats the big kids meals (which seperates them from any other kids meal)

This Commercial actually reaches several of the appeals, this includes appeals 1,3,4,and 7. This commercial implies that you will join a group of people who are all in a quest to collect all the dragonballz cards. ( Implied when the speaker says " Now you can join the quest to collect all ....") This commercial also implies that you will be rewarded with the same skills that Goku had if you collect the cards and figures.( Implied when the guy behind the cash register saw that the kid did all of those flips and knew that the kid was there for the dragonballz toys and cards.) Also it's implied that others will look highly of you( This is when the kid dressed as Goku took the french fry from the other kid. The other kid looked amazed when the kid dressed as Goku took the french fry. This commercial clearly displays that if you buy a big kids meal then you will be more like Goku ( A famous and popular cartoon hero), when the kid was dressed like Goku when he "back-flipped" his way in. A kid wearing Goku's outfit and back-flipping his way into Burger King is very unlikely. Also kids won't gain Goku's abilities if they buy a big kids meal like the commercial implied. So overall the commercial wasn't really realistic. Marketers most likely wanted kids to believe that if they collect the dragonballz cards and buy the big kids meal that they would be more like Goku and have some of his abilities, which is very....very unlikely.

My name is Donnell Ricardo Gilchrist Jr. and I like my name. I enjoy being unique and my name is nothing short of that. My name was going to be Dionne Andre Gilchrist, named after my uncle and aunt but if you look far enough into the roots of Dionne it's from Dionysos, the Greek God of wine, vegetation, theatre, and madness. The name Dionne's popularity reached it's peak at the year 1970 but has been going down since then. This is most likely how my aunt was named Dionne since she was born around that year. ( The video below will give more information on the Greek God Dionysos.)

My name was planned to be Dionne Andre Gilchrist  through my mother's entire pregnancy with me,but once I was finally born and the nurse asked what would be my name my father step in and shouted "Donnell Ricardo Gilchrist Jr!" My confused mother broke the awkward moment with laughter. My fahter and my mother both agreed that Donnell was better than Dionne. But since I was a junior and shared the same name as my dad, my family came up with the nickname DJ(Donnell Jr.). Donnell was never truly a  popular name and its orgins are still unknown in my family. My grandfather says the it was my grandmother who named my father and she unfortunately doesn't remember why she did. But my last name Gilchrist is from the gaelic phrase  "giolla Chriost" which translates to "servant of God". The roots of the last name Gilchrist is Scottish. Even though I could not trace far enough back to see if my family changed it's name to Gilchrist it seems unlikely. But whatever the cause or reason behind it, that is how I scored the awesome name Donnell Ricardo Gilchrist Jr.
